what is Gorilla Habituation?

 Gorilla habituation is the process of  introducing wild Mountain Gorillas to the sight and presence of humans for research, care and conservation purposes. Visitors are now able to take part in this process via gorilla habituation experience.

How long is the Gorilla habituation process for the research team? 

In order  for the wild mountain gorillas to become accustomed to the presence of humans, each gorilla group family must  undergo a lengthy habituation process between 3-5years managed by a team of expert researchers, conservationists, trackers and rangers.

What time do gorillas wake up in the morning?

Having spent the night in a freshly constructed nest, the ordinary day of the mountain gorilla life starts at sunrise, around 6:00 am. Then, they wake up and spend the most significant part of the morning foraging for food.
