It was built by Khufu (Cheops), the second king of Egypt’s 4th dynasty (c. 2575–c. 2465 bce), and was completed about 2560 bce. The Pyramids of Giza are often collectively considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and they are the last of the wonders still standing.
One of the most interesting fun facts about the Great Pyramid of Giza is that it’s the oldest and last remaining of the original seven world wonders. This pyramid is also the oldest and largest of the nine at the Giza Necropolis, and is the final resting place of king Khufu. The three primary pyramids on the Giza plateau were built over the span of three generations by the rulers Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.
