What is a group safari??
It is a type of safari where a traveler or group of travelers join other like-minded adventurers on a safari. This is an ideal way to cut down on costs as travelers in the group share the expenses on fuel, the guides, vehicle, acommodation, etc. and at the same time share the experience with new friends.

solo Traveler: is one person booking the safari, traveling alone with out sharing with anyone else. if you are a solo traveler you can book this safari privately and depart at your desired departing date.
The big question: Private or Group safari?
Safaris are clearly the perfect holiday activity. Visiting new places, seeing new and exciting things, and generally experiencing something totally outside of your normal everyday life, . When planning a safari there are number of things you have to consider, (1) destinations, (2) affordability, (3) wardrobe, and (4) who to have this experience with. This is where the question of whether to have a private or group safari comes in.

What is the difference between a group safari and a private safari?
A group safari is where you are part of a group of people who are booked for the same safari itinerary. It means you are not in control of the safari. Group safaris are a good opportunity to meet some new, nice and interesting people and make friends. while have control of your itinerary. You usually get to decide, where to go, what time, activities and where to stay. You get to make all the choices of course with some recommendation with your safari guide. That’s why most people usually prefer private safaris.

Listen to your guide
Paying attention to your guides is the most crucial thing to do on safari. The guides are experts in the environment and animal behavior and they will have the best judgement in any situation. Their job is to keep you safe so it’s imperative that you always follow their instructions.
Do not disturb the animals
The plains of Africa are not a zoo and the animals must not be disturbed as they roam about in their natural habitat. Never call out or wave to an animal as this will spook them. They will either run away and ruin the sighting experience for everyone, or they’ll charge at you, putting everyone’s life in serious danger.

Be quiet
It’s important not to make too much noise as animals scare easily. The animals are used to the sounds of the vehicles but human noise will upset them. Mute your devices to avoid any loud beeping and if you need to talk, do so in a whisper. It’s easy to embrace an awed silence when you’re immersed in a thrilling search for wildlife. Sit back and let the beauty of the African bush take your breath away.
Don’t get too close to animals, as they are unpredictable and can move very quickly when threatened. It goes without saying that you should never try to touch or feed an animal.
No food or drink:
Don’t bring any food during a game drive. Animals have an incredible sense of smell and will be attracted by something as small as a wrapped candy.
Sodas and sweet drinks always lure stinging insects so stick to water. If you do need to eat while on safari (possibly for medical reasons), try to avoid anything with noisy packaging and inform your guide before heading off.
No smoking or littering
These are two big no-no’s. Smoking is a fire hazard in the African bush and will pollute the natural environment and disturb the animals. Littering is also never okay. Leave no trace and dispose of all trash in designated bins. if you want to smoke, kindly ask your guide to find a good smoking area for you. But smoking in the vehicle, hotel rooms gathered groups and public places is not allowed.

If a safari vehicle breaks down?
If you are on a guided game drive, your guides will be well-trained in vehicle breakdown procedures. Stay calm and let your guides handle the situation like, “The a safari Jeep breaking down with a pride of lions quite close by – adrenaline extreme!” While it was a heart stopping experience. the guides will expertly managed the situation and you will all returned to camp safely.
Manage your expectations
Your safari guides want you to see the best wildlife but there’s no guarantee you’ll spot everything. Animals are unpredictable and often like to remain hidden as they roam freely around the massive reserves. For many people, African safaris are a once-in-a-lifetime experience and they travel a long way with high expectations. It’s unlikely that you’ll spot the Big Five on your first game drive, so try not to be disappointed and don’t get frustrated with your guide if it’s not possible to find every animal you want to see.

Terms of payment: you will have to pay full safari price amount two months before the beginning of this safari.

Also known as a three-course meal and other lodges and restaurants offer standard course meal, you will sometimes see restaurants offering a full menu with these three items. You can add more courses to a full course meal. Every country has different food choices, all the food from these countries is prepared fresh from the garden with local ingredients .

Hot Shower : Most of these camps and hotels offer hot showers and a few others offer warm showers.

Luggage and packing:
Your luggage is limited to one backpack or one duffel bag and one daypack weighing no more than 25kg. As a general rule, ‘if you cannot lift your own luggage, you’ve got too much stuff!’ Most people make the mistake of bringing too many clothes on safari,
Please keep in mind that this is a safari and luggage should not include any Samsonite style suitcases. As the wheelie / trolley bags have a solid frame, they don’t squeeze into spaces the same way a backpack or a duffel bag does, African safari vehicle trunks and light inland aircraft cargo compartments are narrow. If the frame does not fit in the cargo compartment, then there isn’t many other place to put your bag and it will inconvenience everyone else on safari. Also, by day two, the mud and stones will get into the little wheels on your wheelie bag and the novelty will be over and you’ll be carrying your suitcase from A to B. They aren’t as comfortable to carry as a duffel bag and as you think you don’t have to carry it, you end up packing a lot more than you need.
A compact & flexible water proof duffel bag is perfect for stashing into the cargo compartment.

Day pack:
On safari you will generally need to take along a smaller day pack for excursions. For example on gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, hikes and game drives you will need a smaller bag, big enough to bring basic equipment like camera, water, insect repellants and others.

Clothes:
Your clothing should be easy to wash and dry and should preferably not need ironing. Many travelers underestimate how cold Africa can be – remember your jersey/jacket! There are also nights that are warm but you must still wear clothes that cover arms and legs from mosquitoes and other insects, and there are days that are warm but nights can be cold, so plan carefully. Take a set of casual but smart clothes for the occasional evening out in a restaurant or club. If you wear glasses (or contacts) it is also advisable to bring a spare pair along.
Laundry: Try to pack few clothes as possible. For this safari!, you can have your laundry done at each lodge or hotel at a little fee. some hotels and lodges use washing machines and others use hands to wash the , and use the sun to dry the laundry and later iron using either electric flat iron or African charcoal flat iron.

Safari price: Xavier safaris has revised the prices of this 32 nights, 33 day safari, to fit a traveler’s budget.
ELECTRICTY: Every country. hotels and lodges are different in style, service, amenities and location. so a few Lodges and hotels use hydro power (240volts) out put. Others use generators still with (240volt output. Also there are some lodges, hotels and camps that are located far from the hydro electricity grid system use solar power, still giving an out put of(240volts). Kindly remember to carry an international travel power Adapter.

Safari group leader: For This 33 day safari, Xavier safari will appoint a group leader from Xavier safaris the company to lead the group supervise, coordinate, instruct, and manage the group in a variety of settings. This appointed group leader has all the required specific qualifications and additional skills. He has handled group safaris from 32 travelers up to 68 travelers. He will be with you through the entire safari from the day you arrive at OR Tambo International Airport up to the end of the 33 day safari adventure which ends at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Nairobi- Kenya.
Behavior during a group safari!:
There is always a good chance that your group safari might be all good, fun, full of excitement, with good company, wonderful people, sights-generally a perfect trip. But there are so many reasons why they do not quite work out perfectly for most people. Some of these reasons are.
(a)Travelling with strangers on a bus can be trying, but try putting 6-8 strangers in a vehicle across the African plains with bumpy roads, too much heat, and dust. Even small things like whether the air conditioning is on or off can be annoying. It’s the little quirks and annoyances that make group safaris difficult and sometimes unenjoyable.
(b)A group safari is basically putting together a group of people with different cultures, dreams and having different expectations of how their safari should be. If these expectations are not met for each of the safari individuals, the excitement can die. that’s why Xavier safaris has introduced a group leader for each group safaris.
Group Safaris usually use group lodging and camps and not the private intimate ones. So there is not much privacy unless you paid extra for a single supplement room. Or if your tour operator goes out of their way to find better lodging for all of you.
Xavier safaris operates on schedules with group multi country combo safaris, so the itinerary is already laid out, and you cannot add another place to it. So, you can’t make a stop at that scenic little park you see along the way if it is not part of the itinerary the itinerary.
It is simply important to read the itinerary carefully and thoughtfully consider it before joining. Get to know what the offerings of each option are. Find out what is included in the price; activities, permits, accommodation, meals, etc. Flexibility and positive attitude during the whole journey makes a safari successful and binds the group together.

Transportation:
Road-based safaris: We use open or closed 4WD’s, typically Toyota Land Cruisers with a pop-top sun canopy roof during game drives and airport transfers

Internal flights and game viewing:
For fly-in safaris between national parks and countries chartered light flights are included in the price tag, a combination of light aircraft and open-sided 4X4WD’s and closed sided 4WD with a sun canopy, are used. vehicles offer greater visibility and provide you with no obstacle during photography in all directions.

NOTE: For Private departures: Those who wish to depart at their own scheduled date can book this safari and can depart at any time, as long as you book in advance one month to your own scheduled date.
