The continent is home to diverse populations, many of which have been influenced by external factors. Each country has its own tribes, languages and cultures, In general, the people of northern Africa adhere predominantly to Islam and those living in Southern Africa largely to Christianity,  African culture is embedded in strong moral considerations. It has a system of various beliefs and customs. The vast majority of people living in Africa are indigenous; however, people from all over the world have migrated to Africa for hundreds of years. Xaviersafaris plans and organizes different types of travel throught the African continent thus this 21 days Cultural tour takes you through 7 countries to their cultural sites within Africa to counties like south Africa, Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria and morocco.

Ghana, Nigeria and Morocco. the Culture of Africa is varied and manifold, consisting of a mixture of countries with various tribes that each have their unique characteristic and a product of the diverse populations that inhabit African continent displacement. The African Traditions are expressed through music, art, dance, and sculpture with that in mind, the most famous tribes in Africa are Zulu of South Africa, Karo of omo tribes of Ethiopia, Yoruba of Nigeria. The Himba, San of Namibia and the Maasai of Kenya. Africa’s rich history and culture are so diverse that it varies not only from one country to another but also within regions and countries.

27 days detailed TINERARY

DAY1: Arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport

On arrival to O.R. Tambo International Airport Johannesburg South Africa, you will meet your driver guide who will welcome you, greet you and drive you to the Hotel.

Accommodation: Onomo Johannesburg Sandton Hotel.

Meals: Dinner.

Day2: Flight to Hazyview

This morning after breakfast your driver guide will drive you to to O.R. Tambo International Airport in time to catch your flight to Hazyview, on arrival xavier safari representative will pick you up from Nelspruit Airport then he will drive you to Makhonja mountains to visit the Geo Trail near Barberton. You will be taken on a journey into the mists of a distant past of more than 3 billion years ago to learn about the first beginnings of life and the geological history of this area.

Day3: Transfer to Mantenga Cultural Village

Today you leave Hawane Lodge at around 08h30 and head to Mantenga Cultural Village. Here you will have a guided walk through the village before the show starts which will include traditional dancing and singing. Mantenga is a living museum of old traditions and represents classic Swazi lifestyle during the 1850’s. After lunch at Mantenga Village you head to the King Sobuza Museum. The beloved King led Swaziland for many years and
was responsible for preserving the Swazi culture. It is an experience you will never forget.
Now head to Ngwenya Mine, the oldest mine in the world. The ancient Bushmen mined this area for Ochre which was used in traditional ceremonies and for cultural purposes. There is also a visitor’s Centre with interesting information about these people. Artefacts and rock formations are also exhibited here. After this tour you head back to Hawane Lodge.

Day4: Transfer to Johannesburg

This morning after breakfast you will check out  from Rock Rapids Tented lodge Lodge

and your driver guide will take you to Nelspruit Airport

Day 3: Visit Nyamirambo Women’s Center

After your morning relaxed breakfast, you will be transferred to Nyamirambo Women’s Center to visit the cultural center where you will have hands on Sisal Basket Weaving Workshop, walk tour around, and Traditional Cooking Class. You will also visit the art and craft gallery where you will have a chance to purchase traditional African costumes. In the later afternoon, you will return to the hotel for leisure and overnight.

  1. Day 4: Visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village

  2. On this day you will be picked up by 7:00 am, presumably after having your breakfast, and transferred to Nyabigoma, Kinigi, Musanze district, Northern Province which is roughly a two hours drive from Kigali town, you will enjoy a lovely beauty of the unwinding rolling landscape of Rwanda countryside that makes it famous as a country of a thousand hills, you can ask your driver guide to explain to you some of the eye-catching along the way or stop for photography as you proceed. In a short time, you will be in the hearts of Iby’ Iwacu cultural village, a beautiful project employing and empowering the community and providing alternatives to poaching. You will later be joined by a local guide who will greatly welcome you to the village and takes you through an insight into the cultural history of Rwanda. The guide will take you through some of the programs such as visiting the huts, tasting the local brew, marriage ceremony, storytelling, and rap it with hilarious, fantastic dancers and drummers, who will showcase their traditional dance before you, and you can join. Lunch combined with local food will also be arranged and served within the day, and later in the afternoon, drive back to Kigali for your overnight at Gorillas hotel.

  8. Day4: Transfer to Uganda
  9. This early morning and take breakfast you will check out of the hotel and your driver guide will drive you to Uganda through Cyanika Border Post into Uganda, after the border visa process you will proceed to Rushaga sector Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

  14. Activity: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest.
  15. Day  5:Gorilla trekking
  16. Today is best day ever, at 5:00 am early this morning you will wake up to freshen up  then  at 7: 00 am your driver guide will pick you up  from the lodge with parked breakfast and lunch. And he will transfer you to  Rushaga Bwindi sector briefing point. On arrival at the briefing place, you will be welcomed and given seats until time of briefing as your driver guide registers you with the ranger on duty so that you are allocated a gorilla family to trek. You will eventually meet your ranger guide and start your gorilla trek in the jungles of Bwindi. We advise you to hire a porter at $40 to carry your day pack because sometimes the gorillas could be located a distance far from the start of your trek, they can also help push or pull you along the steep slippery paths in the forest. After Gorilla trekking your driver guide will drive you back to Rushaga Gorilla lodge for dinner and over night.

  22. Day 5: Morungole Ik tribe hike
  23. In the morning today you will have breakfast and prepare to hike up to the Morungole mountains where the Ik/Teuso ethnic tribe live you will interact with them , tour their homes thus enjoy dancing and singing with them later return to the lodge.

  30. Day 6: Transfer  to Kampala city.
  31. After breakfast you will check out of Kidepo savannah lodge, and head to Kampala city arriving late Afternoon check-in to Forest cottages

  37. Day 7: Flight to Masai mara
  38. This morning you will have break fast and check out of forest cottages. Your driver guide will drive you to the airport to catch your flight to Maasai mara game reserve.  on arrival your driver guide will pick you up and take you for lunch at one of the lodges close to the airstrip. After lunch, you will go for a game drive to look for animals like  Big Five  that include Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo ), Cheetah, Giraffe, Hippo and Zebra.

Have your breakfast, your driver guide will take you for a morning game drive to a home of over 450 species of birds and mammals including rhino, leopard, elephants, buffalo, wildebeests Elephants, Zebras, Hippopotamus, Thompson’s gazelle Crocodile., warthog, Jackals, lions, many types of antelopes, crocodiles and giraffe. during lunch hours return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch your driver guide will take you to the the Maasai village. the maasai  live in structures known as ‘Manyatta’, which are low height houses, essentially huts, made of mud, cow dung and wood, with a single entrance and minimal side windows. on arrival you will be welcomed, take you for a tour around the village, interact with the maasai then later they will entertain you with their songs. After the tour you will return to the lodge for dinner

  51. Day 9 : Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta airport
  52. This morning after breakfast, check out of the hotel  your driver guide will drive you to Jomo Kenyatta airport in time for your flight to Adis Ababa- Ethiopia,

On arrival Addis Ababa Xavier safaris representative will meet you at Bole international Airport and you will visit the diplomatic capital of Africa, headquarters of the Africa union starting from National museum (home of Lucy hominid skeleton dating back to 3.2 million years), afterwards continue to the campus of Addis Ababa University to the Ethnographical museum, with great displays of the many cultures of Ethiopia, housed in the former palace of Haile Selassie. In the afternoon proceed to Mountain Entoto for panoramic views of the city with fresh air from the eucalyptus forests .Here you will visit the Entoto Mariyam church and Museum

  59. Day 10: Dorze Village & Lake Chamo

    In the afternoon proceed driving to Dorze, set in the highlands above Arba Minch. The Dorze people are known for their tall beehive-like houses and their fine cotton weaving. You will visit the village and learn about the daily lives of these industrious people. If today is market day (in Dorze village on Monday and Thursday and in nearby Chencha on Tuesday and Saturday), that will be visited. In the afternoon, take a boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the “crocodile market”, and the local hippos.

    Day 13: Transfer  To Jinka

    After breakfast depart from Arbaminch to Jinka via Konso and Key Afar.  Thursday is market day in Key Afar, where you will see the Benna and Tsemai tribes trading goods.  This is another very popular market in the region.  After the visit, proceed to Konso (market days are Mondays and Thursdays).  The Konso people are known for their wooden statues, known as wakas, which are erected in honor of dead heroes as well as their innovative agricultural terracing.  Today you will have a brief opportunity to visit a local village and the cultural museum displaying many waka statues.

    Day 14:Transfer to Turmi

    Drive through Mago National park to visit Mursi tribal village. The tribe is renowned for the now-uncommon custom of their women, upon reaching maturity, having their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. Return back to Jinka for lunch and in the afternoon proceed driving to Turmi en route visit, Tuesdays and Saturdays are market days in Dimeka, which is one of the most colorful markets in the area and is visited by many tribes, including Hamer, Benna and Karo.

    Konso Kanta Lodge

    Day 15:Transfer to  Arbaminch

    Morning depart from Turmi to Arbaminch . On the way you will pass through the village of Weyto (market day Saturday), which is home to the Tsemai tribe.  Continue through the Weyto Valley to Erbore, where you will have a brief visit to a local Erbore village (market day is on Saturday).

    Day 16: Transfer to Addis Ababa-Departure

    Morning, depart from Arbaminch  for a full day’s drive to Addis Ababa on the way you may have time to visit one of the following archeological sites of interest , Adadi Mariyam (rock hewn church similar to those in Lalibela or Melka Kunture (pre historic tool making site or Tiya (Ancient stele field and UNESCO world heritage site), Evening we will have fare well dinner in one of the Ethiopian restaurant for cultural dances from the different ethnic groups. Then transfer to the airport flight back home
