Day 1: Travel  to Bwindi forest National Park

Today you drive to Kisoro town located in the south-western part of Uganda; close to the borders with Rwanda and Congo. You cross a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’. You will see a great country-side, bamboo forest and have great views over the Virunga Mountains. On your way to Kisoro you will have a stop over at the equator for coffee and breakfast. After breakfast you will continue to Mbarara Igongo cultural center where you will have lunch, the drive is rewarding with the best scenery and mountain table set up. You will arrive late Evening at your lodge set in the beautiful town of Kisoro.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi Forest

Today is the big day for gorilla trekking for those who have paid for their gorilla tracking permit, meet Uganda’s gentle giant! For most people this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda. The gorillas you will track belong to one of nine habituated family groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts mountain gorillas and Duikers.  It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and 360 birds. (Each Gorilla Permit costs $600) En route, your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. Your track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorilla family. The time taken to track the gorillas can be as few as 2 hours to as many as 7 hours. Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them.  After gorilla trekking if time allows you will have a canoe adventure on lake mulehe.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Mburo n.p- game drive

After breakfast, you will continue your journey to Lake Mburo National Park which is one of Uganda’s smallest parks, but certainly not to be underestimated. It is the only Ugandan national park (besides to Kidepo Valley NP) which is home to zebra, eland and impala, as well as an abundance of other wildlife.

The lake itself is full with hippos and crocodiles! You will stay just outside the park boundaries, but it will feel like being in the middle of the park. From your verandah and restaurant you have a great view over the park and its wildlife.

Day 4: Boat Ride on Lake Mburo – Airport Transfer

This morning you will have a boat ride on Lake Mburo, where you will see lots hippos playing and resting in water, thus seeing other animals, like impala, buffalo, and warthogs coming to drink water. Later after the boat ride you will head back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will head straight to Kampala or to the airport for you flight back home.
